OpenDXP is a fork of PIMCORE, created by members of the open-source community who chose to continue the original vision of a fully open-source digital experience platform. The name stands for Open Digital Experience Platform and reflects its mission: to provide an open, transparent, and community-driven platform for managing digital content, product data, and digital experiences.

OpenDXP was introduced in July 2025, shortly after Pimcore transitioned from an open-source project to an open-core project.
OpenDXP is available free of charge under the GNU General Public License v3 (GPLv3). No license fees apply. Additional costs may arise from hosting, implementation, customization, and professional support services depending on your individual requirements.
OpenDXPstands for Open Source Data & Digital Experience Platform
OpenDXP was founded by the Swiss agency Dachcom and is primarily developed by Dachcom. However, as with any open-source software, anyone interested can contribute to its further development. Current contributors can be viewed on GitHub.
PRinguin Digital Agency has already contributed code to the OpenDXP ecosystem and plans to continue supporting the project in the future.

Yes. OpenDXP is fully open source and can be customized and extended to meet individual requirements. If necessary, even the core functionality can be modified directly at source code level.
The most obvious alternative to OpenDXP is, of course, Pimcore, the original platform behind the fork. You can find a detailed comparison of the differences between Pimcore and OpenDXP here.
Depending on the required modules and use cases, other software solutions may also be suitable alternatives. For MDM and PIM requirements, Akeneo is one example. In the field of content management, Drupal or TYPO3 can be alternatives. ResourceSpace is one possible DAM alternative.
